  • Happiness

I just finished reading The Happiness Project by Gretchen Rubin, and though it didn't completely change my life, I am certainly glad that I read it.  Never in my life do I feel so guilt-free about wanting to live a life that makes me happy.  Stupid traditional Catholic guilt-ridden upbringing.  I've been raised to feel, and always felt, that my happiness shouldn't be my concern, but then I realize, that is one of the few things I should even concern myself with.

It's my duty to find my own happiness.  If not, what's the point of life?

    Show me chink eyes.

There is a picture of Miley Cyrus on TMZ pulling back her eyelids to mimic "Asian eyes."  Something that has been very offensive to the Asian community for many years.  This comes after the racist picture taken of the Spanish Olympic Basketball team.  I found those pictures very offensive, but it is not as offensive as the general public's opinion about it.

For the Spanish Basketball team, I hear a lot of people say, ohh...they are just honoring the fact that htey are going to China for the Olypmics.  That is so much bull shit coming out of their mouths, I am surprised they aren't choking on it.

And now on AOL, there was a poll asking if the picture of Miley was offensive or no big deal.  A whooping 75% said it was no big deal (in contrast to the 25% that foudn it offensive.)  I don't understand how people can't find it wrong.  Are Asians not making it clear that we do not appreciate racists jokes?  Or is there simply a lack of empathy for Asians?

Just in case it is the first one, here's a beginner's course to not be prejudice ass:
-Get your damn hands off your face.  No matter how far you pull back your lids, your impersonation still sucks.
-Stop saying "ching chong."  You sound like a broken doorbell.
-No, I don't have the all the answers to the math test.
-My family did not eat your family dog.
-No, I can't fix your damn computer.
-Stop being suprised when an Asian woman speaks her mind.  And no, she doesn't wanna love you long time.
